Australia Assists Cambodia with Road Design Standards Update

Australia has been working with key Cambodian government ministries to address challenges to infrastructure development in the country by leveraging expertise of Australian government agencies.

The assistance is made through Australia’s US$120 million regional Partnership for Infrastructure (P4I) programme, pointed out the Australian Embassy in Cambodia in a news release this morning.

Recently, it continued, Austroads CEO, Dr. Geoff Allan visited Cambodia to meet with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to discuss updating Cambodia’s existing road design standards, which Australia is proud to have contributed to back in early 2000s.

These standards are critical in ensuring efficient and sustainable road infrastructure development that integrate Gender Equity, Disability and Social considerations in the road design, the source underlined.

According to the embassy, the assistance is part of Australia’s commitment to supporting ASEAN achieving sustainable infrastructure development in transport, energy, utilities and telecommunications sectors.
