ASEAN-China Leaders Endorse Three Important Documents

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen along with other ASEAN Heads of State/Government and Chinese Premier H.E. Li Keqiang attended the 24th ASEAN-China Summit via videoconference this afternoon.

According to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, at the summit, the leaders of ASEAN and China endorsed three important documents, including Joint Statement of the ASEAN-China Summit to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Partnership, Joint Statement on ASEAN-China Cooperation under the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework, and the ASEAN-China Joint Statement on Strengthening Cooperation in Green and Sustainable Development.

Moreover, the ASEAN and Chinese leaders took note of two documents: the progress in the implementation of the Plan of Action to Implement the Joint Declaration on China-ASEAN Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity 2021-2025; and the concept document on strengthening China's technical cooperation with ASEAN.

Both sides agreed to upgrade their strategic partnership to comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation and to hold a meeting to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Partnership next month.

The ASEAN leaders expressed their gratitude to China for its support in combating COVID-19 pandemic, building ASEAN Community, promoting ASEAN integration and boosting innovation and green cooperation.

China has provided US$10 million to ASEAN-China Cooperation Fund to support ASEAN students to study in China.
