ASEAN Centre for Digital Education in Sisowath High School Complex Launched

The ASEAN Centre for Digital Education was officially launched in Sisowath High School complex in Phnom Penh on Nov. 1, contributing to the digitalisation transformation in the education sector of Cambodia. 

The launching ceremony was held under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, with the participation of H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Cambodian senior officials, ambassadors from ASEAN members and representatives of development partners, as well as teachers and students. 

H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary General of ASEAN, delivered a speech via videoconference on the occasion. 

Initiated by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS), the ASEAN Centre for Digital Education is another milestone of the education transformation, which is a result-based priority action to build human capital.

The centre will cover the education sector, from early childhood to higher education, technical education, non-formal education, and inclusive education.

The launch of the ASEAN Centre for Digital Education reflects the efforts and responses of the Royal Government of Cambodia through MoEYS to accelerate the digital transformation of the education ecosystem, make education technology accessible to students, seize technological innovations for education, and promote Cambodia’s advancement at the regional level in the educational technology integration process, said H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth in his keynote address.
