Cambodia’s agricultural products are reaching new high – thanks to the financing from the state-owned Agriculture and Rural Development Bank (ARDB).
In his recent interview with AKP, H.E. Kao Thach, Royal Government Delegate and Chief Executive Officer of ARDB shared about Cambodia’s outstanding agricultural farms in Koh Thom of Kandal province and Phnom Ta Mao of Takeo province being supported by the bank.
The so-called Koh Thom safe vegetable farm, according to the ARDB CEO, is applying new technology including soilless cultivation and greenhouse farming to grow various types of bell peppers.
Capable of producing 1.5 tonnes of bell peppers from one hectare of land per day, the farm is lucratively supplying the produce in the local markets to reduce imports of the vegetable, and looking forward to expanding the production for exports in the future.
The Kirisu dairy farm in Phnom Ta Mao – a joint venture between a Cambodian and Israeli investors, he continued, is successfully raising 500 cows for milk.
With the current capacity, the dairy farm is able to secure about 4 million litres of fresh milk, butter and yogurt annually.
H.E. Kao Thach called on local entrepreneurs to look into similar opportunities and the Agriculture and Rural Development Bank is ready to support those with concrete business plans in order to further promote small- and medium-sized enterprises as well as agricultural products in Cambodia.
