Japan has supported Cambodia with US$3.22 million for human resource development for the academic year 2018.
The Exchange of Notes and Record of Discussions on the extension of the grant aid was inked here in Phnom Penh yesterday by Cambodian Senior Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn and Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Horinouchi Hidehisa.
According to H.E. Prak Sokhonn, the assistance will give opportunity to 26 students and government officials to study for their master's and doctoral degrees.
Profoundly thanking Japan, he added that selected students and government officials for this academic year's development programme will depart Cambodia for their studies in Japan by August this year.
Japan's assistance of this type began in 2000 with a total investment of about US$58 million, and 416 students and government officials have been engaged in the programme since then.
Trained students and government official as direct beneficiaries of the development programme have been contributed significantly to the development of Cambodia.
