Oddar Meanchey provincial authority has spotted 13 ancient iron-working sites, according to local media report.
Covering a land surface of three hectares, the 13 sites were located in the province's protected wildlife sanctuary in Salong forest, east of Roung Dek (iron cave) mountain � Lumtorng commune of Anlong Veng district.
As cited in the report, the Head of Provincial Department of Environment Mr. Phourng Lyna confirmed the discovery, adding that the size of each site is around 10 metres by 15 metres.
We can still see remaining iron slag at those iron-working sites, he continued.
However, period when those iron-working sites were established cannot be told yet and are subject for further study.
