The Executive Committee (EC) - the highest decision-making body of the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) - has appointed Mr. Toshinori Doi as the fourth Director of AMRO, according to a press release received yesterday.
Mr. Toshinori Doi's appointment was made based on the nomination by the Interview Panel comprising six EC members through an international competitive recruitment procedure.
Mr. Toshinori Doi will succeed Dr. Junhong Chang, whose term will end on May 26, 2019.
Mr Toshinori Doi currently serves as Special Advisor to the Ministry of Finance of Japan. He will assume a three-year term as the next AMRO Director starting on May 27, 2019. According to AMRO's governance structure, Director serves as the chief of staff of AMRO.
AMRO is an international organisation established to contribute to securing economic and financial stability of the ASEAN+3 region. It includes Cambodia and other nine members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) plus China; Hong Kong, China; Japan; and Korea.
AMRO fulfils its mandate by conducting regional economic surveillance, supporting the implementation of the regional financial arrangement, the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralisation (CMIM), and providing technical assistance to its members.
