Muslims in the country are invited to participate in a ‘qurban’ (animal sacrifice) campaign to be implemented by non-governmental organisation Aman Palestin in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen
The campaign themed 'Share the Joy, Lighten the Burden', is targeting to raise RM8 million which can benefit nearly 800 thousand Muslims in those countries in addition to the Palestinian community in Malaysia and Indonesia.
Aman Palestin Berhad chief executive officer Awang Suffian Awang Piut said through the campaign that will last until July this year, Aman Palestin will mobilise humanitarian missions to the countries involved to distribute the donated sacrificial meat.
"With the implementation of this mission, Aman Palestin will make every effort to ensure that every qurban that the community participates in can be carried out smoothly," he said at a press conference here today.
Awang Suffian said the current uncertain situation in Palestine amid Israeli attacks was not an obstacle for them to continue the aid mission in the country.
"Based on the experience of Aman Palestine, which has distributed the sacrificial meat for 19 years, there have been many major wars that have occurred in Palestine, it does not dampen our spirit to continue contributing to Palestine.
"And the fight that occurred recently is actually common in Palestine and the aid from Aman Palestin is still continuing," he said, adding that aid from this year's sacrifices was greatly needed by the Palestinian people as a result of the attack.
Therefore, he called on the cooperation and participation of everyone in the community to make the sacrifice campaign a success this year.
Members of the public can contact or head to any of the 20 Aman Palestin branches across the country to get more information about the campaign, or visit the website ‘jommenyumbang.com’.
