Two people suspected of dealing drugs were arrested on Saturday afternoon in Preah Sihanouk province over allegations they smuggled some 10 kilograms of marijuana into the area.
Major Sok Narith, a penal officer with Preah Sihanouk provincial police, identified the suspects as Dil Chanon, a 33-year-old taxi driver, and Am Vitou, also 33.
“They were arrested after police found that they were in possession of two big bags of marijuana,” he said.
“They are for now being temporarily detained for questioning at the provincial police [office].”
They were scheduled to be sent to court yesterday, he added.
According to the anti-drug law, Narith said, they could face between six months and two years in prison.
