The National Month and Fly Jalur Gemilang 2023, themed “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan”, is all set to be launched here tomorrow with a range of interesting activities.

Some 10,000 visitors are expected to converge at the Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah area in Meru Raya to join in the celebrations, which were held in Putrajaya last year.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof will launch the event at 10 am on behalf of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Earlier at 6.30 am, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil is scheduled to flag off the 6,600 Unity Steps programme.

Also on the itinerary is the launch of the Jalur Gemilang Kembara Merdeka convoy by Fadillah, which will see vehicles from the Information Department and other government agencies as well as superbikes and participants from local communities go on a tour of Peninsular Malaysia.

There is a Kita MADANI carnival from 2.30 pm to 10 pm today, featuring activities such as Rahmah Sales offering local goods, a patriotic star competition, quizzes and performances by artistes.

It also has exhibition booths and service counters put up by state and federal government agencies.

The Royal Malaysia Police will also have a counter to settle summonses, offering discounts of up to 50 per cent, from 8.30 am to 3 pm on Sunday.

An Islamic Affairs Perdana Forum titled “Merdeka Legacy” will be held at 9 pm, which will also be attended by Fahmi.

This year’s National Day celebrations will be held at Dataran Putrajaya on Aug 31, while the Malaysia Day celebrations will take place in Kuching on Sept 16.
