AFD Continues Supporting Cambodian Agriculture Development

French Development Agency (AFD) will continue supporting Cambodia’s agriculture development through two new projects.

The update was shared by AFD Regional Director for South East Asia Mr. Jean-Pierre Marcelli, accompanied by AFD Country Director for Cambodia Ms. Sandrine Boucher, during a meeting with H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries here in Phnom Penh early this week.

The two projects include the Sustainable Coastal and Marine Fisheries to be approved by the end of this year and the Rainfed Agriculture Technology Development Programme for Cambodia (RAD4CAM) focusing on rubber and corn to be approved in 2023, said Mr. Jean-Pierre Marcelli.

He also spoke highly of the joint achievements through the good cooperation between Cambodia and AFD.

H.E. Veng Sakhon expressed his support for the new projects and appreciated AFD’s contribution to Cambodia’s development, including agriculture sector.

The minister underlined the progress of Cambodia’s agriculture, transforming from food insecurity to food surplus in the country.

He also encouraged AFD to consider more projects to boost agriculture production chain and support infrastructure to create more added value to Cambodian products.
