Prof. Takeshi Nakagawa, Co-Director of Japan-APSARA Safeguarding Angkor (JASA), was awarded with Commendation of Foreign Minister of Japan 2018 early this week for his contribution to the preservation of Cambodian heritage and human resource development as well as to the friendship between Japan and Cambodia.
According to a recent press release from the Embassy of Japan, Prof. Takeshi Nakagawa is a prominent architect and emeritus professor of Waseda University of Japan.
He has directed the Japanese Government Team for Safeguarding Angkor since its establishment in 1994 and implemented conservation projects in the Angkor historical sites and engaged in the conservation of the North Library of Angkor Wat, Prasat Suo Prat, and Bayon Temple. The conservation project at Bayon Temple has been jointly conducted with the APSARA National Authority since 2005 and contributed to capacity building of many Cambodian technicians through the projects.
Prof. Takeshi Nakagawa has also been conducting basic research at Preah Vihear Temple and conservation works at Sambor Prei Kuk.
