In September this year, a group of Malaysian businessmen will pay a visit to Cambodia, H.E. Eldeen Husaini Bin Mohd Hashim, Ambassador of Malaysia to Cambodia, told Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Veng Sakhon, during their meeting here yesterday afternoon.
The purpose of the visit is to learn more about the potential of Cambodian agriculture sector, added H.E. Ambassador.
In addition, H.E. Eldeen Husaini Bin Mohd Hashim affirmed that Malaysia had decided to increase its import of Cambodian rice and is interested in other agro products such as pepper, longan, and palm oil.
For his part, H.E. Veng Sakhon welcomed the decision and expressed thanks to the Malaysian side for its good cooperation and support for Cambodian agro products exporting to Malaysian markets.
H.E. Minister also briefed his guest on the agricultural development in Cambodia, pointing out that more than 2.37 million tons of agro products have been exported to international markets, as of July this year.
H.E. Veng Sakhon asked the Malaysian side to encourage its investors to invest in agro processing in Cambodia.
