Cambodia and Vietnam held the 5th International Conference on Building a Border of Peace, Friendship, Cooperation and Development for 2017-2020 in Kampot, a coastal province of Cambodia, on Aug. 16.
The event was presided over by H.E. Ms. Men Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection, and H.E. Tran Thanh Man, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee.
The conference aimed to review the work achievements of Cambodian and Vietnamese fronts in the past three years while the two countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Year, said H.E. Ms. Men Sam An on the occasion.
The Cambodian DPM spoke highly of the VFF Central Committee for its good cooperation, especially in tightening the solidarity, friendship, cooperation and communication in all fields as well as in maintaining and protecting security and order at the common borderline.
H.E. Ms. Men Sam An also requested both sides to disseminate the contents of joint communique widely among their people so as to promote their participation in social activities such as trade, economy, culture, science, education, environment and so on.
Cambodia and Vietnam share a common land borderline of 1,137 kilometres through nine Cambodian provinces of Kandal, Takeo, Kampot, Thbong Khmum, Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, Kratie, Mondulkiri and Rattanakiri, and ten Vietnamese provinces of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Binh Phouc, Tay Ninh, Long An, Dong Thao, An Giang, and Kien Giang.
