4,000 Guests Expected to Join This Year’s Celebration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day

Around 4,000 distinguished guests and donors are expected to attend the celebration of the 157th Anniversary of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day to be held on May 8, said the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) in a press release issued today.

The upcoming celebration, themed I Love Peace I Love Cambodian Red Cross, will be presided over by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, it pointed out.

World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is an important event for the CRC to highlight its achievements in helping hundred thousands of disaster victims and most vulnerable people, it underlined.

It is also an opportunity for the CRC to raise fund to continue its humanitarian operations without discrimination of race, religious beliefs, political tendencies and leaving no one behind, added the same source.

During last year's event, CRC collected in total US$20.7 million for its humanitarian mission, up from US$18 million in 2018.
