The 2nd International Conference on Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP) began here this morning under the presidency of H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism.
The event, taking place from June 20 to 21 at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel & Residence under the theme Human Resource Development for Sustainable Tourism Development, attracted some 700 delegates from relevant institutions in ASEAN and its dialogue partners (China, Japan and Korea).
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Thong Khon underlined that this two-day international conference was organised in a spirit of solidarity and friendship in the ASEAN region to share experience, successes, concepts and new inputs from different stakeholders in the implementation of ASEAN MRA-TP to promote the development of skills and employment.
The ASEAN MRA-TP is a form of ASEAN cooperation aimed at sharing experience and good practices on human resource training in tourism, especially in hotel and travel services, he added.
The ASEAN MRA-TP is aimed to improve quality tourism services in the bloc. Certified Tourism Professionals under the MRA-TP would support Member States in developing ASEAN into a Quality Tourism Destination as indicated in the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan 2016-2025.
