Fourteen (14) Cambodian officials from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) are going to attend Local Governance Course in Japan under the Training Programme for Young Leaders 2017.
A pre-departure orientation seminar was held here this morning in the presence of H.E. Prak Samoeun, Director General of MoI's General Department of Administration and Mr. Miura Junichi, Vice President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Cambodia Office.
Through the course, the participants will get new knowledge and experience in Japan, especially on local governance which will become resources for the development of their respective institutions, said Mr. Miura Junichi on the occasion.
Training Programme for Young Leaders is part of JICA's technical cooperation programme being implemented since 1984 with the purpose to give opportunity to young officials to strengthen their knowledge and skills for their field of work, he continued.
According to Mr. Miura Junichi, the training programme has contributed to enhancing mutual understanding and tightening the ties of friendship between Japan and developing countries around the world. Cambodia has taken part in the programme since 1995, and up to now 1,039 young Cambodian officials have benefited from it, he added.
For his part, H.E. Prak Samoeun encouraged the 14 officials to fully and actively use the opportunity to gain more knowledge and experience to serve the nation upon their return.
