Three Killed In Maran Road Crash

KUANTAN, Three individuals, including a mother and her daughter, were killed in an accident involving three vehicles at KM 34 Jalan Maran-Bandar Jengka this morning.

Maran district police chief DSP Mohamad Zamri Mohamad Zaber said that they were notified of the incident at 8.19 am.

He said preliminary investigations revealed the crash occurred when a Perodua Alza, transporting two people from Bandar Jengka to Bandar Maran, collided with a Toyota Avanza that was believed to have swerved into the opposite lane.

‘As a result of the incident, a Perodua Myvi driven by a woman from Bandar Jengka to Bandar Maran was unable to avoid hitting the Toyota Avanza that was crossing the road,’ Mohamad Zamri said in a statement today.

The accident resulted in the deaths of Perodua Alza driver Noraini Ali, 42, and Toyota Avanza passenger Nik Nurien Haziqah Nik Ibrahim, 13, at the scene. Noraini’s daughter, Aufa Medina Azuan, 7, was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the Jengka 2 Health Clinic.

id the 28-year-old driver of the Toyota Avanza and his two 13-year-old passengers sustained injuries to their legs, head, and face, while the 34-year-old female driver of the Perodua Myvi only suffered minor injuries.

All those injured were taken to Temerloh and Jengka Hospitals for further treatment, he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transpoirt Act 1987.
