SMC WINS FROST and SULLIVAN’S 2024 BEST PRACTICES MARKET LEADERSHIP AWARD

KUALA LUMPUR, Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City (SMC) has won Frost and Sullivan’s 2024 Best Practices Market Leadership Award in the Malaysian hospital industry.

In a rigorous analytical process to evaluate multiple nominees for each award category, SMC excels in many of the criteria in the hospital industry space, including growth strategy excellence, brand strength, technology leverage, and customer service experience.

SMC chief executive officer Dr Seow Vei Ken has attributed the recognition to the team’s sheer dedication and professionalism.

‘I am immensely proud of the team which is consistently striving for excellence. The recognition will serve as motivation to keep going forward and raise the bar to provide the best patient care services.

‘Indeed, 2024 turns out to be a special year for us because of the multiple accolades we won this year which coincides with our 25th anniversary,’ he said in a statement here today.

Meanwhile, Frost and Sullivan’s industry principal Bhaskar Vittal, who is from
the research team, said SMC invested heavily in establishing a robust healthcare ecosystem, encompassing high-end medical equipment, world-class hospital infrastructure, and highly trained healthcare professionals.

‘The hospital focuses on providing transparency to patients by publishing their clinical data and showcasing their success rate. This promotes maximum retention of patients and strong referrals.

‘A patient-centric approach supports SMC’s commitment to providing clinicians with the necessary tools, medical equipment, and software to ensure a seamless patient journey in the hospital,’ he said.

The award was received after SMC was recently named in the top 250 hospitals globally in Newsweek World’s Best Hospitals 2024 rankings, becoming the first Malaysian hospital to make it onto the list.

Established in 1999, SMC is the largest private quaternary hospital in Malaysia, with 724 licensed beds and more than 60 specialities and was supported by over 3,500 dedicated healthcare and hospitality profess
ionals in providing personalised treatment with a holistic care approach.

SMC, according to the statement, also takes pride in its milestones achieved in the robotics surgeries front, where it has performed over 2,400 robotic surgeries with a team of 26 highly skilled, robotic-trained surgeons from various disciplines.

SMC also offers a collection of paediatricians and paediatric consultants from 24 different paediatric subspecialties, one of the highest among private hospitals in Malaysia.
