Acting Minister of Economy and Finance H.E. Vongsey Vissoth congratulated the progress of the country's energy sector in the last decade.
Speaking at the recent opening ceremony of a Workshop on Multi-Tier Framework (MTF) Global Survey in Cambodia under the theme "New Tool to Measure Energy Access", H.E. Vongsey Vissoth said Cambodia's energy development has seen remarkable progress in the past ten years.
The coverage of electricity supply have been expanded, underlined H.E. Acting Minister, pointing out that the number of villages having access to electricity increased from 10 percent in 2006 to 74.7 percent in 2016.
During the same period, he added, the rate of household access to electricity rose from 13.4 to 58.2 percent.
The Royal Government of Cambodia was committed to extend the electricity supply coverage to all villages across the country by 2020 and to increase the household access rate to at least 70 percent by 2030, said H.E. Vongsey Vissoth.
